Our mission is to involve the Ouray County community in developing resources to enrich our students' lives and to broaden their educational experiences.
Our Mission Statement:
The goals of the Foundation are:
1) To secure resources from individuals, corporations, and foundations to support appropriate educational and cultural activities that benefit students in Ouray County for which federal, state, and local funding are not fully available.
2) To provide resources which encourage the development of innovative educational programs.
3) To provide resources for programs external to school which enrich student lives, broaden their educational and cultural experiences, and compensate for the relative isolation of the Ouray County area.
4) To facilitate understanding and cooperation between Ridgway and Ouray Schools and between the schools and the people of the community.
5) To enhance exposure to resources and training of guidance counselors, teachers, and staff to improve their qualifications.
6) To arouse various students' interests through sponsorship of qualified guest speakers in business, industry, military, science, government, agriculture, legal, arts, music and education professions.
7) To provide grant writing assistance and financial support for innovative academic, artistic, or cultural courses in Ouray and Ridgway schools.
8) To promote individual responsibility in students.
Statement of Goals:
The Mt. Sneffels Education Foundation was established in 1992 to help enrich and broaden the educational and cultural experiences of the youth in Ouray County. The Sneffels Foundation does this through contributing money to projects initiated by school and community leaders for which there is no regular funding available.
The foundation sponsors several fund-raisers each year to raise those funds that are used to support these projects. The primary fund-raising activities include:
August: Half-Marathon Run/Walk , October:Evening of Fun: Silent/Live Auction & more, and
February: Spelling Bee & Soup Supper..
We also conduct a Fund Drive in late Spring.
The foundation is grateful to our many friends who have chosen to support the children and educators of Ouray County. With your help we will continue to fund programs that enhance the educational experience of our young people.
If you would like to sponsor a table or donate items for our upcoming Silent/Live Auction, please contact Stephanie Wallin, Auction Chairperson (smlwallin@gmail.com),
