Spelling Bee / Soup Supper, February 10, 2009, at the Ridgway Elementary School Condor Hall
Cost: Soup/Supper TBD, Team entry fee: $100, Information: Sue Hillhouse 626-2970
After a delicious soup supper, teams will assemble in costume and compete for their round and those preliminary round winners in a final championship round for the coveted Spelling Bee Trophy. Teams consist of 3 persons, unless the combined ages of the team is greater than 180 years. In that case, a high school student may be added to the team. In addition to the $100 entry fee, each team will raise money for "mulligans" which, when utilized in competition, will allow them to pass on a word, have a helper in the audience aid their effort, or offer what another team says for their spelling on a particular word.
Teams may be sponsored by county businesses, civic organizations, churches, or just a group of friends or neighbors who want to participate.
The words used in the competition come from the Scripps National Spelling Bee Word List.
